Paco in Deap Vally Knitted Hat

This is one of my favorite paintings so far - little Paco wearing a Deap Vally band knitted hat.  Deap Vally is one of my favorite bands (they're amazing - listen to them here: http://deapvally.com/splash/)  Not only do those two ladies kick ass, they knit band merch (and actually met at a crocheting class!)

This concept was first inspired when I saw a photo of a dog wearing a winter hat, and then as I was randomly checking out Deap Vally's Instagram photos I discovered their amazing knitted hats.  It pretty much worked out perfectly like it was meant to be!

Jonesy's Vivienne Westwood Let It Rock Dog Portrait

I just finished painting this portrait of a cute Yorkshire Terrier wearing a vintage Vivienne Westwood t-shirt.

I started this painting knowing that I wanted to do something inspired by Vivienne Westwood's early punk collections, and I've always loved her chicken bone "Rock" shirts.  It seemed perfect (and humorous) to have a dog wearing a bone shirt spelling out "Bones."

Vivienne Westwood Collection "Let It Rock" Chicken Bone T-shirt - 1972

I decided to paint a Yorkshire Terrier because they're so cute, but can look a little scruffy and can be a bit feisty (and can pull off punk).  I named this little guy Jonesy after Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols (who is amazing).  Also, if you look closely you can see that Jonesy is wearing Sid Vicious's iconic chain necklace as a collar and I added a few safety pins for effect.

"Sweet Pea's Ready To Party!" Pet Portrait Painting

This is a pet portrait I just finished of my cousin's dog Sweet Pea, gouache on bristol board, 2013.  Sweet Pea loves a good party and is always dressed accordingly! This was really fun to paint, especially since my cousin (and Sweet Pea) have a good sense of humor.

This painting will be available as prints & greeting cards shortly on my etsy site: https://www.etsy.com/shop/RayRayWorks

"Whatever Lola Wants" Pet Portrait Painting

This is a pet portrait I just finished of my cousin's dog Lola, gouache on bristol board, 2013.  I really love it when dogs wear clothes - especially shoes!! I love Lola's expression in this, she's such a little sweetheart.

This painting will be available as prints & greeting cards shortly on my etsy site: https://www.etsy.com/shop/RayRayWorks

Misfit Pup Pet Portrait

This is a portrait I painted of my friend's dog Chicken Nugget, ready for Halloween (although I think dressing like a Misfit is acceptable any day), gouache on bristol board 2013.
I really love Chicken Nugget's expression… it's priceless! And her ears really are that big <3

This painting is available as a print and as greeting cards on my etsy site: https://www.etsy.com/shop/RayRayWorks

"Did I Do That?!" Naughty List #2 Christmas Kitten Series Painting

Here's another painting I did for the Naughty List Christmas Kitten series, gouache on bristol board, 2013.  This one was fun because I painted one of my favorite family Christmas ornaments.  I was inspired to paint this one because my old cat used to somehow get tangled in Christmas lights EVERY time I was decorating the tree… I know he was only trying to help ;)

This painting is available as a print & as a greeting card on my etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/RayRayWorks

Bah Humbug! Santa's Little Helper Pet Portrait

Happy Holidays! I'll be posting a bunch of dog portraits - I've fallen so behind on blog postings!

Here is a painting I did recently, gouache on bristol board, 2013, entitled "Bah Humbug! Santa's Little Helper." Obviously this little guy is feeling in the Christmas spirit with his festive costume… I really love this one.
